broadcast on 2/12/2010

In recent days, according to the old Polish tradition of winter once again surprised not only the road builders. Heavy snowfall, cold and gusty wind to effectively encourage to spend long evenings at home, preferably near a source of intense heat. Not for the first time Victor had redactor predict the dynamics of weather serving Students with a strong antidote to the energetic dose of sounds that grzały no worse than any kind of "sun", "trociaki" and other inventions of native technical ideas while providing the aesthetic qualities and big emotions. Broadcast though almost entirely monograph, however, contained a substantial digression.

quite a long time we had to wait until the redactor reach the ledge with the boards by Mike Onesko but patience paid off and we could double the pleasure to listen to the artist, who in the Polish ether reviews about as often as accurate weather forecast given by the Synoptics. Therefore, it is worth, and even be at this unconventional musician adequate notice and a few sentences of biography, because not everyone probably heard about him. Indeed, the U.S. no longer young guitarist and singer in our country is little known, if at all anyone heard about him, it's basically only in the context of his current band Blindside Blues Band. But few probably know that Mike for almost 40 years of his musical career had a lot of your own projects and played with dozens of more or less known artists.
"Rock Machine" - such as it set out - his musical career began quite early, at age 17 left his family home in Fairview Park in Ohio, and with $ 60 in his pocket and a guitar he went to stop a dream of San Francisco. There he founded his first band - Sundog trio, whose music was modeled on the achievements of early Black Sabbath. The band existed from 1972 to 1974, in the meantime gave Onesko even as a guitarist in the group Sledge. Then, for less than a year he played guitar in a Diamond Fire to join the quartet of Main Drive, where the singer was a man named Walker Kaeck. With him was Onesko since 1976, created the hard rock quintet Steelwind and it was the first major band in which he played "Rock Machine. " Even performed at the famous Kezar Stadium in San Francisco, which is in the 70s of the last century arena such stars as, Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, Joan Baez, Neil Young. Steelwind existed until about 1982. Next year is grinding his guitar talent in the next less significant bands (No Questions, Hysteria, The Kwik, Three Man Army, Red Dirt Blues Band), created in 1991 by Mike Onesko Band, which performed regularly at clubs in California Marin County, and there I discovered him Mike Varney. In 1993 the group changed its name to Blindside Blues Band, and picked up, what happened: Mike Onesko - guitar / vocals, Scott Johnson - guitar, Greg Chaisson - bass and Jeff Martin - drums. Especially the two latter should be known for certain, even with the American hard rock band Badlands, and the drummer Jeff Martin also has at its ends such cooperation Paul Gilbert, Pat Travers onboard and Michael Schenker. The above-mentioned composition of the band recorded in 1993, Blues Bureau International effort his first album, simply entitled "Blindside Blues Band." The band's music formed part of the exact design of the publications that label, that is a blend was made virtuosity blues with a rock and hard rock. Extremely interesting compositions presented based on a strictly blues rhythms with two guitars in unison grającymi the same rock riff, which further enhanced the sound and was carrying with him an extra charge of energy. This convention has always been a trademark of Mike Onesko and its projects, and the album immediately was praised by critics and listeners. In the same composition of the BBB has recorded two more albums: "Blindsided" 1994 and "Messenger Of The Blues" in 1995. These publications have long since achieved cult status in the circles of fans of blues-rock guitar. In 1996 he released another album, this time under the name Mike Onesko's Blindside Blues Band - titled "To The Station". Although the team has changed dramatically, it is in terms of style and content of musical genres this album was the same as the previous ones. But there is no why, no wonder, because the recordings have provided a great value addition to the leader: Mike Varney - guitar, James Lomenzo - bass Aynsley Dunbar - drums and Parris Bertolucci - Keys. Mike Onesko Activities in the 90s of the twentieth century is not only a copyright release. It is worth mentioning that the "Rock Machine "took part in the recordings already mentioned repeatedly in the pages of this blog, publishing a cult LA Blues Authority. Subsequently, they were: "Cream Of The Crop", "Fit For A King" and "Hats Off To Stevie Ray." In addition, lent his voice on the album "Saturn Blues" by Tony Spinner. In 2001 the album was released as Mike signed Onesko's Guitar Army - "Armageddon." His record was attended, inter alia, Mike Varney and guitarist Bill Gressock. The CD contains recordings pure rock and hard rock, so fans of blues-rock music may not accrue to taste. Bluesfanom certainly should appeal to released in 2004 under the name Mike Onesko Blues Band - LP "Smokehouse Sessions. Onesko with the said Bill Gressockiem and bassist and drummer Kiere Staehelim Emerym Ceo served to some of the best performances of popular standards, blues hard rock style. Two years after this great album, Mike Onesko again returned to the name Blindside Blues Band, which was the fruit of the album "Long Hard Road." You can hear its sound even heavier and rather go into a more hard rock than blues-rock, which may be the result of the transition under the wings of Grooveyard Records. Just released is the 2008 album "Keepers Of The Flame", which immediately reveals the fascination with the works Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. The year 2009 was exceptionally busy for Mike, because they had released two releases of its authorship. First under the name Onesko Bogert Ceo Project, entitled "Big Electric Cream Jam" contains excellent versions of songs the group Cream, which is another great fascination Mike Onesko. The tapes were recorded live, in the composition of which reveals the name of the project. Second release under the banner already Blindside Blues Band, and entitled "Smokehouse Sessions" is as if continuation of the 2004's album of the same title, with some themes are repeated.
beginning of this year brought another album Blindside Blues Band - "Raised On Rock". The title itself suggests that the blues on this album is not much, what is more, it is probably the strongest album of all previously issued under the aegis of the BBB. This does not mean that you have to avoid him a wide berth. On the contrary - as any publisher Mike Onesko provides a solid dose of rock music relating to the patterns from the 70s of the twentieth century. In addition, perfect execution and production, and interesting compositional plane make it really worth reaching for music Blindside Blues Band. Sam Mike Onesko is primarily rocker (as evidenced by even his nickname), but his creative identity is deeply rooted in the blues and that is what makes the model it certainly respected artists active in the blues-rock scene in the 60's and 70's - of the twentieth century (indeed he had already occurred), offers us what in this music the best. A means of expression which he uses (heavily distorted sound of Gibson Les Paul typical reverberant guitars sound a little reminiscent of Leslie West) add even more flavor and originality of his music, what, after all these days so we're all about. Therefore, if someone has not heard before about Mike Onesko and Blindside Blues Band, and enjoys a solid blues-rock playing, no doubt be interested in his discography. It is also worth mentioning that Mike "Rock Machine" Onesko can hear the last track popular Blues Attack thanks to Joe Colombo compilations "Voodoo Crossing: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix" and "Gypsy Blood: A Tribute To Jimi Hendrix Vol.2 ". Onesko is not only a guitar and a great veteran singer and composer but also an excellent producer and producer of the recordings, which can be heard by inserting discs into the player, both Blindside Blues Band and other performers, including the aforementioned Leslie West. Those who work Onesko Mike is not a stranger, they should sharpen their teeth longer, because the artist looks at the end of the year two more releases: "Smokehouse Session Vol 2" and "Live-OBC Cream Jam 2." Thus, we look forward, and in the meantime let us see ourselves as Mike begins on the stage. The material is still fresh, so it gives complete idea about the current form Onesko which could therefore envied many a colt at the age of his grandson:)

As already mentioned at the beginning of a broadcast is not lost in a multitude of sounds and Mike Onesko through the concert has become part of the balance. I must admit that the redactor Victor showed up in this place special feeling, because calm frenzied guitar Onesko in such a way so as not to lull The listener to sleep is a real challenge. Here, fortunately, came up with a reliable means of maestro Jeff Beck and his amazing "Live at Ronnie Scott's." Master of age do not even think of musical retirement and, unlike most of his guitar peers, still has the form and content.

course after the presentation of this class of artists is always hungry for more so as a complement than a few songs that have not joined the program:

Blindside Blues Band - "Truth Never Lies" [7:01] [comp. Johnson]

Blinside Blues Band "Folsom Prison Blues" z CD pt. “Raised On Rock”

Jeff Beck - “Nadia” [03:41] [komp. Sawhney] “Performing This Week...: Live at Ronnie Scott's”

Jeff Beck - “Angels (Footsteps)” [05:40] [komp. Hymas] “Performing This Week...: Live at Ronnie Scott's”
